About Me

I am first and foremost a mother, wife, daughter, sister and a friend.  I am married to my amazing husband and Mother to my four unbelievably flawless children. Ok, ok. Sounds pretty perfect, huh? And it is! However, there are days when I think that a long stay, in a padded room, with a straight jacket on, is in my not-so-distant future!

It is art, design and their creative outlet that have given me sanity and helped shape me into the person that I am today. It is also what keeps me up way past my bedtime! But, without art, I would be lost.

have been decorating my white walls with personal artwork for over a decade now and my walls are full! I am now ready to share my ideas, inspirations and artwork with you. I share my visions and my creations in hopes that you will find beauty and possibly even a home for my artwork on your walls.

I like to say that I am a self taught artist but the truth is, I am taught and inspired by so many people and things other than myself.  I am probably most influenced by patterns, textures and colors found in nature...the marbling of stone, the texture of tree bark, the rippling of water, the graining of wood.

Other major inspirations of mine include: fashion, interior design and architecture.  The unexpected pairing of colors, the mixing of patterns, and of course metallics can all be observed in my work. I like balance in my artwork as I do my wardrobe, my home decor and myself, in general...edgy but classy, sexy but conservative, loud but soft, dark but brilliant.

My artwork is probably considered modern and abstract by standard definition.  But anyone who know me, knows I do not like labels or constraints. I am certain that my pieces capture both natural and modern/abstract elements and could find a home in most design styles.

Each of my works is a little piece of me.  I begin with a vision in my head and that vision evolves, sometimes several times, into the finished pieces that you see. I embrace mistakes such as spilled paint or children's hand prints, even smudges or rips, because I feel that these things help tell the story of the piece.

My works range from pen and ink, to stippling, to watercolor, to large scale acrylic on canvas.  Finding new instruments is part of the excitement of my craft. People began asking questions about the things that inspire me and the tools and mediums I prefer to use and I quickly learned that art is so much more than just finished pieces... It's about the process. Hence, my blog!

Hope you enjoy reading and thanks for being curious about me.

Sincerely yours,

Jules
